Scores of young people in the La Brea and Point Fortin areas are now being trained by Alutrint Trinidad for possible employment when the smelter plant goes into operation.

Last Saturday, some 100 youths who were trained in YTEPP classes, as well as special courses by Alutrint, graduated in the first phase, which is expected to make them marketable in various fields.

Chief executive officer of Alutrint, Philip Julien, who delivered the feature address at the graduation ceremony at Vessigny High School, told the graduates that their first responsibility to become marketable was in the development of a good working attitude.

"What every company needs are people with the right attitude towards work and that is why we have engaged in attitude training before we begin training in technical subjects," said Julien.

He advised the youths to continue the training offered by YTEPP as it is designed "not only for work in your immediate environment but elsewhere where there are many opportunities for skilled workers".

The students received certificates for the satisfactory completion of the courses which were run over a six-month period.
