Perceptions of Trinbagonians

Just this past week I've had 2 conversations that have left me a bit disturbed.

First is with a woman who was reading the papers and commented on an article about electric cars. She laughed at it and made the following comments:

- what if I want to drive from Port of Spain to Toco and back, and then do it again, the car will run out of power.
- you mean I have to plug that in every night?
- suppose I get electrocuted!

Second is with a man who was looking at the Pricesmart blue bag, said it was a nice bag but it was not biodegradable. He then said that because the HiLo bags are, that they would disappear in about 100 years and it'll be gone, no need to worry about it. He also mentioned that he would not use the Pricesmart bag because he has to remember to take it with him every time.

I ask of you the following questions:

  • Is this really the mentality of T&T?
  • What can we do to educate people?

I look forward to hearing all of your opinions, regardless of how small you may think it is.
