Smelter ruling a victory for the people

The Honourable Justice Mira Dean-Armorer on May 16 made a significant decision in favour of the people of T&T regarding the proposed Alutrint smelter plant.

Perhaps the most critical area of her judgment had to do with the disposal of the spent pot lining. This is the most toxic of effluents and absolutely no provision was made for its efficient and effective removal. This was going to come back to haunt us in about eight years' time.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance and the people of T&T must wake up now and realise that God has opened a window in this struggle.

I will also state that if Mr Patrick Manning and his Government insists, against the will of the people, that the smelter must be built, it will lead to their downfall.

So let it be written, so let it be done.
